Jess and I have been in the same book club for a few years now, and I was SO happy when she asked me to take photos of her family. Zayla has the BEST personality and Pax is the smiliest toddler. 🙂
It was a HOT day when we took these photos and the sun was right above us, but that meant we got some great pictures in the shade.
These two just make me so happy. Zayla loves her brother and he gets a huge kick out of watching her and laughing.
A delightful, happy family. 🙂
As I looked out my kitchen window a couple of weeks ago as I was getting ready for the Sheahan’s family session, I was a *little* nervous about the clouds and drizzle and wetness. Laura, the sweet mom in these photos, and I texted back and forth about the weather. On the one hand, no one likes taking photos in the pouring rain (most people aren’t looking for the “drowned mouse” look). On the other hand, it’s been the wettest Spring here in Oregon in 75 years, so the rain might never go away.
“We’re up for it if you are!” was Laura’s text to me, and I’m so glad we decided to go with it! Not only are their pictures super cute (her boys are adorable and full of fun!), but they have that classic “This is what life in the Pacific Northwest looks like” feel to them. 🙂
I think one of my favorite pictures of the whole session is this last one, above. Laura and her husband were posing for a cute photo and their boys just HAD to get in on the action and posed themselves right along side their parents! 😀 Adorable.
Finley’s grandmother is the one who contacted me about doing her photos. When I heard Finley had just turned two, I couldn’t resist since my daughter is the same age!
A lot of people don’t like the two-year-old stage and refer to it as “The Terrible Twos”. But, I have to say, it’s one of my favorite ages. Their language development is coming along and they have thoughts and opinions they are just so excited to share with you!
And look at all of her cute faces! Adorable!
We had fun walking around the park, looking at the ducks, smelling flowers, and playing with bubbles. Finley is so sweet and I had so much fun capturing her at this age. 🙂
This little girl was my very first client and now she’s just turned ONE! Eeek!
Here’s Maddy when she was a newborn:
And here she is now:
I mean, how adorable is she?! Answer: Super Adorable.
I mean, can you even remember the last time you were THAT happy? 😀
And because we can’t let her have ALL the spotlight, we took a few pictures of her mom and dad too.
And the whole family together.
This park is the same place where Emily and Taylor (Maddy’s parents) had their wedding photos taken. There’s a photo in their living room of the two of them and this tree, so we recreated the moment. 🙂
And, because I can’t resist some Mom/Baby, Dad/Baby pictures, here are a few more:
A beautiful, wonderful family and a truly adorable ONE-year-old!
When Jocelyn contacted me about taking photos of her family, I was SO excited to find out her little man, Davis, had just turned ONE! That first year has so many milestones — smiling, eating, crawling, and (for some) walking! Davis was just learning how to take a few steps and could get around pretty well holding on to mom or dad’s hand (sometimes both).
Can’t you tell how proud he is of himself? 😀
Davis loved to snuggle and get close to his mom, but he was totally happy being silly with his dad, Zack.
That stick ended up in his mouth .23 seconds after this photo was taken. 🙂
Happy First Birthday, Davis! 🙂 Best wishes to you and your sweet family in the coming year!
One thing that I most enjoy about photographing siblings is how different they can be. 🙂 During this family’s session, Tabor (the oldest) was shy and a little timid, while his brother Archie (the soon-to-be middle child) was all personality.
As we walked through Clackamette Park, Tabor started to open up a little bit and I got to even see his goofy side. 🙂
Danica is one of the strongest moms I’ve ever met — she’s pregnant with their third and due in just about a month or so and was able to pick up Archie and carry him for part of the way! Amazing! Corey was careful and understanding with each of his boys — helping them with their jackets (which matched! so cute!) and making silly faces to get them to giggle.
The new baby will be lucky to join this family. 🙂
One thing I think is hard for most parents, but moms especially, is getting in the picture with our kids. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: get in the photo!
When Meaghn contacted me about a family session, she thought it would be fun to do one in their home, and with the weather being what it is here in January, I totally agreed! She also said she very much wanted pictures of her and her husband playing with the kids. Wonderful!
Their kids were so fun and the boys, Liam and Mikey were SO excited to see me and eager to play… and jump on their parents’ bed. 🙂
Their littlest, Edie, was just starting to figure out that she wanted to crawl and it was fun to watch her try and stretch her body juuuuuust as far as it would go. (And see? Meaghn gets to be in the picture!)
Before our session, Meaghn told me she saw a photo of a couple drinking coffee in their kitchen that she wanted to try and replicate. As we were taking the photos, she and Ryan told me the story of how they happened to meet by chance in a coffee shop and watching them relive that day (before three kids!) in their minds and seeing the expressions on their faces was about the sweetest thing.
In conclusion? One of the cutest families with the spunkiest of children. 🙂 Thank you, Joy Family, for letting me document this time in your lives!
