Almost a year ago, I got to do Benjamin’s newborn session for my friend, Wendy. In December, Wendy contacted me to find out if she could gift an extended family session to her in-laws for Christmas. Of course, I said yes! We decided to schedule the session for sometime in the Spring so we could have some beautiful green backgrounds and less rain. 🙂
Extended family shoots are always a little crazy (because there are so many people!), but I love doing them. I get a chance to capture not just the individual families, but also the grandkids and the grandparents.
And just the grandkids.
And just the grandparents.
And evvvvvvverybody all together!
All of the adults did a great job of keeping the kids entertained and moving while we were taking the photos and a special shout-out to Michelle who watched all of the little kids while I captured these great photos of the Original Calls. 🙂
If you have an important anniversary coming up or you just want to get a fun gift for your parents, consider gifting them an extended family session!
This little girl celebrated a huge milestone this last month when she turned TWO! There were a few days of rain behind us and several days of rain in front of us, so I’m glad we were able to get out on one of the nicest days we’ve had so far this year!
Sophie has one of the sweetest smiles you’ll ever see and is very sure of herself, much like most two-year-olds. 🙂 I loved all of the faces she made for me!
Also, how fun is it to have a balloon that’s bigger than you are?!
We ended the session by letting her play on the playground that had been calling to her since we got there. She was so fast climbing, sliding, and swinging!
It was wonderful to be able to celebrate this sweet girl! Happy second birthday, Sophie!
Camden’s no newbie to my blog and I’ve done sessions for his family quite a few times over the last couple of years. He’s such a sweet boy and I was so excited to be able to take his eighteen-month photos in his family’s beautiful home.
One of the things I really like about in-home sessions is that it allows us to document not only your family, but your home as well! Plus, all of the things that are important to you are usually right at hand! Check out this cute kid and his favorite book and his animal friends!
See? Adorable. And not only do we have some of his favorite things, but his Mama (his favorite person!) is there to be with him too. So much love!
Camden’s other love is cars. The joy that comes out of this kid when he plays is just infectious!
It was a cloudy, rainy day outside, but inside we were able to get so many good pictures of Camden to capture his fun personality. 🙂
I’m so excited to finally show you pictures of the very first pair of twins I’ve ever photographed! I’m pleased to present to you Noelle (in the green blanket) and Grace (in the purple blanket)!
Aren’t they SO sweet?
If you remember, I’ve taken pictures of Kevin and Kelly’s family before, and most recently documented Kelly’s pregnancy of these two cuties during a family session.
I know it’s a cliche and everything, but you really do forget how small newborns are until you hold one and then they are teeny tiny!
Lifestyle newborn sessions are wonderful for a lot of reasons, but one of the things I like about them the most is the way I can incorporate other members of the family into the shoot. It’s not just about Noelle and Grace being born, but it’s also about how their family is growing and seeing their siblings relate to them.
Seriously, how precious is all of this?!
I told my husband that we’re lucky we have a six-month old at home already, otherwise I’d be having all kinds of baby fever right now, lol.
Welcome to the world, Noelle and Grace! You are already so, so loved. 🙂
I took pictures of Tanya’s youngest daughter last year when she made her first communion. Recently, they decided to expand their family and added Valentino… their HORSE! Isn’t he HANDSOME?!
I’ll admit that I was one of those girls in school who loved horses and wanted to have one of my very own. When Tanya told me that they bought a horse, I said, “Yaaay!” and when she asked me if I’d take some photos of her and her girls with Tino, I said “Squeeee!”
This shoot was during one of those magical days in the fall where you get all of the pretty colors from the leaves, but you also get the warmth of the sun for one more day. It was beautiful and we had lots of fun.
One of the many reasons I love photography is being able to share important moments with the families I work with — sometimes that means adding a new member to the family. This time, it wasn’t a baby, but a beautiful horse. 🙂
Kelsey contacted me this fall because she wanted to gift her mother with an extended family session — she wanted pictures of her family (herself, her husband, and her two daughters) with her own parents. Extended family sessions are a wonderful gift and a great chance to capture some memories with more of your family than you, your spouse, and your kids! (Scroll down to the bottom of the post for more information on what an Extended Family Session entails!)
Grandparents are so special and whenever I do an extended family shoot, I’m reminded of how much I enjoy them! Watching these two little girls with their grandma and grandpa was so adorable. You can tell they mean so much to their grandparents and their grandparents shower those little girls with love.
Kelsey really wanted some fall foliage for this shoot, so we headed up to the promenade trail in Oregon City. I love that trail because you can see so much of the river down below and the park changes so much with the different seasons (here’s a shoot I did there in the Spring with the flowers).
It was so fun to spend the morning with this family and capturing all of these special moments with them. For one last image, here’s three generations of this family… how precious is that?
Some info on extended family sessions: because there are more people involved, the pricing for these sessions and the types of shots I provide are a little different. Contact me if you’re interested in scheduling an extended family shoot and we can discuss the details. 🙂
I’ve taken photos of the Creech family before, when their youngest was a newborn. It’s hard to believe Roslyn has grown up so much in a little over a year!
We met for pictures this last fall up on Powell Butte and it’s one of my favorite places to take family pictures. Not only are the views gorgeous, but there’s gravel and paved paths in spots… perfect for walking around with kids when it threatens to rain. 🙂
Xavier is full of energy and had so many good smiles for me. Roslyn is such a sweetie and I so much enjoy seeing how she’s growing up and how she’s starting to look a little like Xavier every once in a while. 🙂
The Creech’s are such a fun family and I always enjoy my shoots with them! I can’t wait to see how much growing those littles do in the coming year.
Remember how I took ten-year anniversary pictures for this family? Well, what you didn’t see from that shoot was this picture:
That’s right! Kelly and Kevin were pregnant! With twin girls! I’ll be blogging their newborn session soon, but first let’s check out their maternity and family photos from this fall. Kelly wanted to have a session at a Christmas tree farm during Thanksgiving weekend and, since we live in the Christmas Tree Capital of the World, we were able to find a farm kind enough to allow us to run around all over and take pictures (and the Schiedlers got their tree there too!).
The kids were funny and kept running around trying to find the perfect tree. It was adorable. In the meantime, we were able to snag some sweet pictures to document this family of five.
Kelly is one of the cutest pregnant people and her belly was the perfect size — I’m still amazed there were two little girls in there!
I’ve loved, loved getting to document all of the important memories and milestones for the Schiedlers and I’m so excited to get to introduce their new baby girls soon!
