Langan Family Photos | Oregon City, Oregon Family Photographer

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a client blog! Between the end of the school year and moving and all of the fun/busyness that comes with summer (not to mention my busiest July as a photographer!), I let blogging fall aside. BUT! I couldn’t let too much time go by before I talked about this awesome family!

Ashley contacted me in the spring about doing a family shoot in May because there are so many flowers in bloom that time of year. I always love photos of families, but photos of families with pretty flowers and nice green grass? Yes, please!

Ashley has two little girls, Emery and Ellie, and a son, Elijah. Emery and Ellie were too cute and had the best time giggling back and forth with each other.

Elijah was a little more shy, but we were able to get some great photos with his dad, Patrick and a few of Elijah running all over by himself! One of the things I love most about taking pictures of little kids is that each one is different, and some of that depends on their ages. When I have a toddler who just wants toΒ move, I work with it! Letting kids be themselves makes for the best photos.

Some of my most favorite photos from the session are the pictures we got with the kids and their parents. I just love how each of their children will take away from this session not only family pictures, but also pictures of themselves with their parents.

We had this session up in Oregon City and I was SO excited that the rhododendrons were in full bloom and that so many of the other flowers had beautiful blooms as well. Spring in Oregon is one of my favorite times of year!

“Step forward! Step back! Innnnntroduce yourself!” | Clackamas, Oregon Photographer

Did anyone else sing this song when they were in high school or at camp? You know, when you had to tell people all about who you are? My husband used to coach soccer and now he sings this song with our kids allllll the time and it gets stuck in my head. And, now, it’s probably stuck in yours. You’re welcome. πŸ™‚

“My name is Ann! Yeah!”Β
While Ann might be my name, I’m more often called “Mama!” around these parts. πŸ™‚ I have three little kiddos (two boys and a girl) under the age of six. So, life is pretty full, fun, and crazy all at the same time! While I’ve been taking photos for most of my life, my kids are what prompted me to want to be a professional photographer. I loved documenting all of their little moments and I wanted to be able to do that same thing for other families. I whole-heartedly believe that pictures are worth taking (and printing!) to share not only with your kids now, but with future generations as well.

“And I live in Oregon! Yeah!”
It’s true, I do live here in Oregon, but I didn’t always! I was born in California and lived there until high school when we moved to Idaho. After high school, I went to college in Washington (go Gonzaga!) and then ended up at the University of Portland for grad school (go Pilots!). I met my husband when we taught at the same high school (me=English/Journalism him=math) and we’ve started our little family here! I love, love, love Oregon. It’s such a beautiful place with easy access to a mountain, the beach, and all kinds of trails and trees and parks in between. When I’m not taking photos, you’ll find me playing outside with my kids, hiking, baking (with and without my kids), and reading a good book.

“And I’m a photographer! Yeah!”Β
When I was little, I used to look through my parents’ photo albums. I liked looking at their wedding photos (who were those young people in such different clothes?), but I really enjoyed looking at the photos from when I was a baby and toddler. There was something about being able to see myself grow through the eyes of my parents. Then, when I was in about sixth grade, I remember getting to use a disposable camera (remember those?) to take pictures of a trip I was on. It was so fun to snap away and then see those images developed into photos! Being able to print photos and hang them in my house is still one of my favorite things. I’m not always the best about updating our photos, but I try because my kids love seeing themselves on our walls. I think that’s what made me want to be a photographer — to be able to give the gift of these images to other families so their kids can have that same experience.

“Alright, alright, alright!”
Whew! Thanks for sticking with me until the end. πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoyed getting to learn a little about me and I hope I get to learn a little more about you soon, too!

Tabb Family | Milwaukie, OR Family Photographer

As soon as I got to my session with the Tabb family in Milwaukie, the first thing I noticed is how cute Jessica’s kids are. Kyle and Natalie are totally photogenic and were SO well-behaved at our session.

Check out this cool kid, Kyle!

And, then, of course, there is the sweet smile of Natalie. πŸ™‚

And, to top it all off, not only are they adorable to photograph, but they get along so well! One of my favorite things to capture at sessions is sibling photographs. There’s two reasons for this: 1) they’ll never be this young again and 2) on those days when they keep picking on each other, Jessica can just look at these photos of them being super sweet and cute and remember that they do really love each other, lol!

And, of course, we had to get the pictures with mom and dad to round it out. Aren’t they sweet?

Thank you, Tabb family, for letting me capture all of you and for being such a delight to work with!

Call Extended Family | Oregon City Family Photographer

Almost a year ago, I got to do Benjamin’s newborn session for my friend, Wendy. In December, Wendy contacted me to find out if she could gift an extended family session to her in-laws for Christmas. Of course, I said yes! We decided to schedule the session for sometime in the Spring so we could have some beautiful green backgrounds and less rain. πŸ™‚

Extended family shoots are always a little crazy (because there are so many people!), but I love doing them. I get a chance to capture not just the individual families, but also the grandkids and the grandparents.

And just the grandkids.

And just the grandparents.

And evvvvvvverybody all together!

All of the adults did a great job of keeping the kids entertained and moving while we were taking the photos and a special shout-out to Michelle who watched all of the little kids while I captured these great photos of the Original Calls. πŸ™‚

If you have an important anniversary coming up or you just want to get a fun gift for your parents, consider gifting them an extended family session!

Sophie turns TWO! | Milwaukie, OR Family Photographer

This little girl celebrated a huge milestone this last month when she turned TWO! There were a few days of rain behind us and several days of rain in front of us, so I’m glad we were able to get out on one of the nicest days we’ve had so far this year!

Sophie has one of the sweetest smiles you’ll ever see and is very sure of herself, much like most two-year-olds. πŸ™‚ I loved all of the faces she made for me!

Also, how fun is it to have a balloon that’s bigger than you are?!

We ended the session by letting her play on the playground that had been calling to her since we got there. She was so fast climbing, sliding, and swinging!

It was wonderful to be able to celebrate this sweet girl! Happy second birthday, Sophie!

Odin Family | Portland, OR Family Photographer

Kate, Geoff, and Barrett are some of the nicest, funniest people you’ll meet! Kate had Barrett about a month after I had my youngest son and have the same lion outfit! Clearly, Kate and I have both fantastic men in our lives and impeccable taste in kids’ clothes.

We met at Mt. Tabor on what was supposed to be a pretty sunny day. It was cloudy when we first got there and got in so many good shots!

This face! When was the last time you saw a kid with smiles this big?

Then, it began to rain and rain and rain. We hid under some trees and waited for the sun to come back out. I’m sure glad we did because the tees were just starting to blossom and were so pretty and the perfect backdrop for some pictures of Mr. Barrett.

We had a fun time at our session and they were true troopers for braving the rain with me. πŸ™‚

Camden 18-month session | Happy Valley Family Photographer

Camden’s no newbie to my blog and I’ve done sessions for his family quite a few times over the last couple of years. He’s such a sweet boy and I was so excited to be able to take his eighteen-month photos in his family’s beautiful home.

One of the things I really like about in-home sessions is that it allows us to document not only your family, but your home as well! Plus, all of the things that are important to you are usually right at hand! Check out this cute kid and his favorite book and his animal friends!

See? Adorable. And not only do we have some of his favorite things, but his Mama (his favorite person!) is there to be with him too. So much love!

Camden’s other love is cars. The joy that comes out of this kid when he plays is just infectious!

It was a cloudy, rainy day outside, but inside we were able to get so many good pictures of Camden to capture his fun personality. πŸ™‚
